    @ Salem Biblical Garden
We are looking forward to an interesting afternoon at Salem on Sunday 25 October. Waterblommetjies are in season, making it possible to enjoy one of the rare culinary treats of the Western Cape – Waterblommetjie and lamb bredie, served on rice with a salad. This unique edible flower has a pleasant, easy to savour taste and is cooked with braised lamb. We only have enough fresh waterblommetjies for 50 servings, so hurry and place your order via our website immediately!
For the less adventurous, we have Middle -Eastern flavoured chicken kebabs, served with chips and salad. The flavours of the Jerusalem “shook” is just as mouth- watering. Avoid disappointment and book early.
Lunch starts at around 1 pm and can be enjoyed at tables in our marque tent or under the shady wild- olive trees around our picnic facilities.
Please bring your own drinks and glasses. Cold drinks and coffee can be purchased from our Kiosk.
After lunch, visitors will be able to walk through our Biblical Garden and view the artwork and exhibitions that make up our “Journey through the Bible”. This is a 500m walk along a path cut through the fynbos . Spring flowers are at there best this time of the year. Bring your cameras! There will be no charge.
More adventurous visitors can go on our 2 km St Pauls Trail covering our 10 ha farmland. It takes one up against the slope of the Paarl mountain giving one a glorious view over the vineyards of the Windmeul valley. Bring good walking shoes. Children must be accompanied by their parents.
At 3 pm we show a short film on the Jesus Trail from Nazareth to Capernaum . This is a three day walk along the escarpment above the Sea of Galilee and leads down to the Tiberius and on to the town where Jesus spent much of His time with His disciples. It’s a fascinating walk and passes villages like Canna where Jesus turned water into wine, Migdal where Mary Magdalene (Mirriam of Migdal) lived, and, further on, the place of where Jesus multiplied the fishes and the loaves.
We are excited to hear what Johan Koch has to say about his adventure as he walked this trail and beyond. Johan also walked to Jerusalem and into parts of the Negev dessert. It was both a strenuous physical and a uplifting spiritual journey that is well worth listening to.
Who knows, we might even get enough interest from people who want to walk the Jesus Trail as part of a tour to the main sights in Israel -when travel restrictions are lifted.
We trust you will enjoy the afternoon at Salem!”
PS Because of Covert 19 restrictions , bookings must be made in advance to keep with-in the rules.
