The Delheim Jazz & Cheese Fondue series plays an exciting new tune in the Stellenbosch Winelands this year thanks to the announcement of a collaboration with the Cape Town Music Academy (CTMA) and Jazz in the Native Yards. All jazzed up, this renowned winter indulgence of cheesy delight, wine and live jazz performances will take place, each Sunday from June to August.
The Jazz & Cheese Fondues are hosted in Delheim's cosy ‘downstairs’ wine tasting cellar, snug with low ceilings and intimate tables. It’s here that the cheese-pot lids come off, melting all resistance with piping hot Swiss-style cheese and mellow jazz.
The Delheim Jazz & Cheese Fondues embrace this philosophy in slowing it all down to a peaceful and enjoyable pace. Picture pots of Gruyère and Emmentaler for ladling, dipping and smearing with a selection of delicious bites and outstanding Delheim wines. This is meal-sharing and social cohesion at its best and an occasion best enjoyed with a group of close friends and family.
Tickets are R450, which covers the cost of the live jazz performances, Glühwein and soup on arrival and the hearty fondue meal which will be served with complimentary Delheim wines between the first and second act. There will also be a coffee bar.
These events generally book up quickly so you might consider signing up as a member of the Delheim Wine Club, which offers a range of worthwhile benefits including preferential booking for Delheim Jazz & Cheese Fondues.
Tickets MUST be booked ahead of time at www.webtickets.co.za. No walk-ins will be allowed.

@ Spier Wine EstateThe 13th edition of the Stellenbosch MTB Challenge takes a break from the annual 6 route format and focuses on fun and family with 2 route options launching from our new venue at Spier Wine Estate!
As one of the premier venues in South Africa, Spier Wine Estate needs no introduction and has loads on offer for riders and spectators alike with wonderful food, wine and beautiful scenery to wow the senses. The two routes chosen for this year’s challenge compliments the venue and offering perfectly. To add to the fun, a new trail run will be hosted on Saturday, 28 July to create the perfect winelands outdoor weekend.
Entries are open for the mountain bike event with a 22km and a 50km to start from 8am in various start groups. As there are fewer distance options, entries will be limited to 2000 riders, to give outdoor enthusiasts the ultimate experience. The picturesque routes will cater for beginner to intermediate riders in keeping with this year’s theme of having fun outside with friends & family.
Well-known route designer, Meurant Botha of Dirtopia, was involved in mountain bike routes & events at Spier since the late nineties knows the area well. “This year we’ll focus on the fun take for mountain bikers and even beginners and the younger crowd can enjoy this stunning area of Stellenbosch. We wanted to take a break from the annual format to give us enough time to develop a new rider offering for 2019. That said, the Spier venue and route offerings are sure to be very popular and we’re sure that it has the potential to grow into a stand-alone weekend. ” says Botha.
