Franschhoek also boasts a wide selection of outdoor activities, perfectly suited for all grades of adventure enthusiasts. A hike in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve offers panoramic views of the valley. Breakfast Rock in the nature reserve is the perfect spot to view the valley’s splendor at sunrise or sunset. Explore the fynbos along the mountain trails and spot a baboon or two along the way. The nature reserve is home to the Cape Floral Kingdom, which contains the Fynbos Biome (8 600 different plant species), and is the world’s smallest and most species-rich floral kingdom. The Berg River hiking and biking trails are adds another dimension to Franschhoek’s vistas. La Motte Wine Estate has its own hiking trail which is available for hikers to explore between 9am and 2pm daily.  If you prefer a more relaxing walk the garden tour at Babylonstoren is where you want to be. The kids will have a ball exploring the garden whilst munching off fruit they’ve picked themselves.
